Reflections of April and December: Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung’s Passing (Excerpt 14)
We arrived into the funeral home and we were sat in one of the eight sections carved out. A clear box with Anita’s photo on, and the words, “Anita Mui’s Charity Foundation” which was something she set up a few years back, was placed in front of each of us. I threw in $10 dollars and immediately realized how cheap I was as the people next to me took out their $100 notes. I looked in my wallet. I really didn’t have that much to spare. I blush as I think about it now.
A man came up to each of us, and checked our bags for cameras, someone else asked us to turn off our phones, and then “Please, I understand this is a sad time, but we ask you, to keep your Sum Ching (Heart Level) in control, please do not cry, do not call her name, and allow her to easily go in peace, as her last wish were.”
